    This course explores and experiments with the formal elements and principles of visual language in three dimensional design. It is required for art majors. This course introduces design elements and principles as they apply to 3-dimensional space and form; theory and practice.                 Beginning Printmaking

                This course is an introduction to printmaking with special attention to relief printing, monotypes, and intaglio processes. Prints are produced by drawing or carving a composition on a carrier surface (the matrix) such as a wood block, metal plate or stone.  This surface is then inked and the image is transferred to paper by the application of pressure, thus creating an impression or print.  The goal is for students to gain the skills and confidence to produce multiple images by hand printing and on a press while exploring personal visual expression.
