This program satisfies the requirements for the associate in arts degree with a major in music and the lower division course requirements at most California state universities. Music majors must select one of the following areas of specialization: instrumental, vocal, guitar, piano, or commercial music. These majors must also take the appropriate Applied Music class and participate in a Large Ensemble every semester they are enrolled in the Music Major.


Upon completion of the program, students will:

Students will explore repertoire from various periods of classical music as well as from diverse world cultures. The ensemble includes both college students and members of the community. Participation in all scheduled performances is mandatory, with two or three performances taking place each semester. These performances will be held at approved on-campus events and may also include off-campus festivals and competitions.
