Associate of Science (AS-T) Degree for Transfer
2024 Fall Semester

Majoring in Child Development prepares students for jobs in a variety of early care and education settings as well as in related fields working with children and families.The Associate in Science in Early Childhood Education for Transfer degree is designed for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Completion of the Associate in Science in Early Childhood Education for Transfer degree will fulfill the requirements to obtain the California Child Development Permit at the Teacher level which qualifies the student to work in a State of California funded child development center or preschool. To earn the Associate in Science in Early Childhood Education for Transfer, students must complete 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following: (A) The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education – Breadth Requirements. (B) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district. (2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.” ADTs also require that students must earn a C (or 'P') or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis. Local graduation requirements are not required for the transfer degree. Students should consult with a counselor for more information on transfer requirements and university admission.
