ASL/English Interpreting - Major #5507
Associate of Arts Degree

The Associate of Arts in ASL/English Interpreting prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution in order to earn a bachelors degree required to become a certified interpreter. Specifically, students will develop foundational skills needed to gain language fluency, manage complex cognitive tasks, and convey a dynamically equivalent message between ASL and English.

Recommend ASL 1 as program prerequisite. Need to start ASL 1 in first term to finish in 2.5 years. Strongly encourage short term for ASL 1 and 2 (9 weeks of ASL 1 and 9 weeks of ASL 2) to finish in 2 years or starting with ASL 1 in the summer prior to fall semester.
